Giving them memories from their counterparts is a bit of a cheat, I admit. I wanted to explain a bit of what happened here in the past, but without the other characters around, it was hard to do it in a normal fashion. My solution works, but it still feels like a bit of a cheat.
For the record, this scene is taken from Out of the Darkness. The result, though, is changed from the original version. So now we can see where the divergent point might have started.
It makes sense, though. The farther back the universes diverged, the more changes there would be in the "present". Long as they don't diverge too far back, we can still have a lot of the same characters and situations, just skewed (not completely changed, as in the Star Trek mirror universe).
When evil spreads across the land, and darkness rises and the monsters roam. When the creatures of the night make beautiful music, and the things that go bump in the night go bump with greater enthusiasm. When the world is in peril and is in need of a hero...
These guys are, sadly, the best the world can hope for. These are the adventures of the heroes of CVRPG. They mean well, they try hard, and occasionally they do the impossible...
They actually do something heroic.
