This is something I'll probably have to answer in a "Question from the Readers" since a lot of comments revolve around it, but Darkmoon does have a perfectly functional airship -- it has the technology required to put it in the air and fly it true. A lot of flight systems, control systems, and all the basic stuff you'd expect for an airship are in there. So that nav system makes sense.
It's just what you'd expect to have on there for space-travel -- that's what's missing. I have no explanation for the lifeboats, though. I blame Final Fantasy for that.
