Remember, we had that whole "dark plotline" back during the run of Comic 1000 (and only in CVRPG can you get the phrase "back during the run of Comic 1000" and actually have it make sense). Angel saw an evil version of himself, so he knows what he's talking about.

I hope these are zombies and the witch didn't just cast an illusion spell to make our heroes think they were killing zombies when there were actually killing townspeople.

I doubt Angel or Link'd care much. Alec'd be devastated for a while and Princess'd find a way to give all of them a royal pardon.
