While this argument is sound, the Sorceress wasn't thinking it practical terms of "which person on this heroic team is the strongest." She was defeated by a hero in red way back in the day. And then she is confronted by a team of heroes led by the person in red, and is defeated again. The third time she meets them (at her castle at the start of CVRPG IV), she realizes she has to take out the person in red, assuming that person is the leader.
Whatever ever other factors could have come into play (like detecting who was a vampire and making them the target), that was her prime reasoning (at least in my head).

These guys are, sadly, the best the world can hope for. These are the adventures of the heroes of CVRPG. They mean well, they try hard, and occasionally they do the impossible...
They actually do something heroic.
