Technically I think the Skull Woods were from the Dark World in Link to the Past. Unless this Link is the same Link from LttP, I don't know how he ever got over there. Although, who's to say there can't be multiple adventures in the Dark World?
Well, sure, the continuity of the games says that can't be the case, be who ever pays attention to Zelda continuity? Not Nintendo, that's for sure.
