Really, neither captain should lead an away team as that's the job of the rest of the crew. The captain, by regulation, is required to stay with their ship and lead everything. Of course, this ship barely has regulations, and it has two captains, so I'm sure we can spare one of them for an away mission. Sounds like a problem that solves itself.
