This comic does explain Darkmoon's reasoning. And, let's be fair, there are some differences between the two. Katrina has piercings in one ear, Mirror does not. Katrina and Mirror have different hair styles. Katrina and Mirror have different cat-like facial markings. For someone familiar with our Katrina, as any of her crew mates would be, it should be easy to tell the two apart.
