It's not that Link isn't a team player. He works with Bucky, and that works out fine, and he likes other people (at least to a certain extent). But all his adventures are solo-affairs (Bucky-related excursions notwithstanding). He's just not very good at taking other heroes into account.

Link's best partnerships are all with undead chickens who can't really be negatively affected by collateral much beyond 'annoyed'

Considering that Alec had his shield out in front of him, Link is an excellent shot. Just the wrong target.
