With the heroes out of the way, let's get to some plot! Or at least the beginnings of a sort of edging around the possibility of maybe one day getting to some plot. Eventually.
Medusa's gaze is one of those things I've played fast and loose with. Usually I put it as "meet her eyes to become stone," but Alec apparently did it this time and what able to survive.
