The spider is from Secret of Mana 2. It's just one of a number of monsters I don't normally get to use (due to size, and compatibility with Castlevania), backgrounds). He works well in this plotline, though.
There aren't a lot of giant spiders in the Castlevania series normally, come to think of it. I can think of a few little spiders as normal enemies -- no giant ones though. There's one in Mega Man X, but that totally doesn't count.

These guys are, sadly, the best the world can hope for. These are the adventures of the heroes of CVRPG. They mean well, they try hard, and occasionally they do the impossible...
They actually do something heroic.
