I always hated word problems, not because the math was bad, but just because the situations they setup were dumb.
"If Jimmy has three apples and Jenny takes two of them, how many apples does Jimmy now have?" Who cares?! If Jenny didn't ask, Jenny's gonna be facing quite the beat down. Jimmy doesn't take kindly to apple theives. He's the baddest gunman in the west, with a hair-trigger personality and two guns he lovingly calls "Lightning" and "Rebecca" (she's the meaner, more accurate one). Even though Jenny got on a horse riding out of town, and has had a two hour head start, there's no place she can hide where Jimmy won't find her.
Maybe this is why I always took so long doing tests...
