As we establish later, Angel traveled the world either by flying or by portals (how he got to and fro from Heaven). He really never had the need to travel by sea, on a boat. I guess if he ever had to go across and ocean, he just portal'd it.
It's also a sly reference to something I don't think anyone had ever noticed. Angel doesn't have any walking frames. None. He's either standing or flying, nothing in the middle. In fact, his (underused) attack frames are all flying frames.
As for the Other Heroes, well, I ahd to give them something to do, didn't I?
