I'm pretty sure that's not how it works in the real military, but you have to give him credit. That's a pretty nice little bit of a work-around he came up with. I doubt Sprockets will be happy about it, but he's set himself up a nice little situation.
I'm gonna have to do more with Cynthia, though. I don't want her to fall into the situation where she's just a love-interest for the main character. I like more nuanced characters than that.
