They may be more powerful than anyone has yet realized but the Children of Fate are still children. They are only going to be able to do as much (normally) as your average child could.
Let me point out, though, that using them to create a time sword to save the universe is a nice way to use up their "Fate" and once again resolve this plot thread. That's just awesome.
