Recently a fan asked about how Evil Darkmoon could be out in sunlight during this whole arc. I tried to remember what I'd come up with at the time (if I'd even addressed it and hadn't said something like "different world, different kind of light") and I said "Katrina must have trained him to create an anti-sunlight spell."
