Although the whole motivation for the Space Pirates has never been entirely clear to me -- a race of super soldiers grown in a lab to terrorize the universe by attacking it and stealing it's stuff, oh and also a giant brain -- it's not all that hard to write them. Send a few after Samus, maybe throw out a couple of metroids, and you're done.
