Now, if I were being consistent with Link I would have used rupees from a Link to the Past -- I've established that even if he's not the same Link from that game, he's still of that era, has similar powers and items, and largely fights the same way that Link did. He's a CVRPG version of that Link, more or less.
However, I've never really been consistent about the sprites sources I use, mixing games and sequels and series all together. So this really isn't a violation of his own internal continuity.
Besides, money is money and Link is gonna enjoy it no matter where it comes from.
