Gold has, traditionally, always been worth more than silver. Hes wise to keep the gold invested, since by and large it always goes up in value.
Silver, however, is good as a quick cash infusion. Darkmoon would conceivably keep silver stashed in various places as a sort of "go bag" -- quick money in case he needs to flee.
