This just seemed a natural plotline to follow with Princess. She's talked about being in power before (and her alternate even was, in the other universe), so having her take the post of Village Elder made sense.
In a lot of ways, Princess has grown a lot in the series, and if I wanted her to continue on her arc, I had to do more with her. I couldn't just keep sending her out on adventures, since she's not that kind of hero. She has other assets (no pun intended) she can rely on. Time to see where she goes!
