When you think about it, Shaft isn't as dumb as this comic makes him out to be. There are so many random things living in the halls of Castlevania, unless it's brandishing a whip, you just have to assume it belongs there. Besides which, Frankie had just been at the door. It's not like anyone that shouldn't be in the castle could have gotten in.
Plus, you know paperwork is very distracting...

well, as i saw by sotn, there were church boys (bloody zombies), witches (salome), lesser vampires and flying blondes (witches), also angels (amalaric snipers) and other stuff roaming around... and in castlevania, some monsters carry whips, but those are skeletons or a mockery of simon belmont (simon wraiths), so no wonder shaft cannot distinguish heroes from monsters... well, that and you gotta get pretty close and personal to detect a pulse...
When evil spreads across the land, and darkness rises and the monsters roam. When the creatures of the night make beautiful music, and the things that go bump in the night go bump with greater enthusiasm. When the world is in peril and is in need of a hero...
These guys are, sadly, the best the world can hope for. These are the adventures of the heroes of CVRPG. They mean well, they try hard, and occasionally they do the impossible...
They actually do something heroic.
