In my head, the characters can't see the menus because they aren't "playing" the game. As such, they'd have no clue why Darkmoon just stopped moving for no reason.
I don't know how the battle up ahead is gonna go, but I figured saving was a good idea. We'd gone almost 100 comics without saving. I personally don't want to have to cover all that ground again.
