#17: Ask a Stupid Question

If you've read CVRPG II in the main archive, then you'll see a parallel to a scene in that story here. This scene was actually written first, but I will admit that I intended it to be mirrored down the road in CVRPG II. Sometimes it's good to plan ahead.
I do have to wonder why the Dark Lord is so important, though. It's not as if he's ever around for very long or really has a chance to get up to much evil.

When evil spreads across the land, and darkness rises and the monsters roam. When the creatures of the night make beautiful music, and the things that go bump in the night go bump with greater enthusiasm. When the world is in peril and is in need of a hero...
These guys are, sadly, the best the world can hope for. These are the adventures of the heroes of CVRPG. They mean well, they try hard, and occasionally they do the impossible...
They actually do something heroic.
