It's because he's dead, so the stones are on him, in his grave. Just in case you were wondering.
I'm making a guess about the stones, honestly. They're relics only mentioned in Lament of Innocence so maybe he doesn't need them anymore, or he doesn't need them on him, or who know's what. But from the implications of that game, and how the events at the end of Lament played out, it's probably a fair guess that Dracula needs the stones on his person for them to work and lend him the power he needs.
