This is also an issue with the zip clips speedrunners will perform. Not the insanity, no, but getting trapped in areas you can't escape. It's called "softlocking" and it means the game is effectively locked even though it hasn't crashed. You're trapped, unable to escape, but can still technically move around as the music plays and enemies patrol just out of reach. Oops.
