Because, remember, this is the first time the Sorceress has even fought the "Man in Red" despite this being the third encounter we've seen with her in CVRPG.
I'm glad I put Alec into this arc instead of using Darkmoon for it. Alec gives the story motivation whereas Darkmoon is too slimy and cowardly. Honestly, Darkmoon probably would have been content to just hang out in the past and live his way back to the "present"... probably earning more gold in the process.
