Well, she did say his armor perfectly matched uniform of the rangers. It only stands to reason that a golem such as this would be looking for simple characteristics to approve or deny anyone in his path.
Of course, that then does lead one to wonder why more people aren't counterfeiting ranger uniforms. This seems like a serious hole in their defenses.
