The Castlevania series is deeply rooted in Gothic horror. Sure, the first game was a bit of a parody (what with the amusing monster names), but the series has deeply entrenched itself into the lore and style of vampire horror, taking many cues from the Universal and Hammer film monsters.
The vampires created in those series have little to do with modern vampires. The sexy, sparkly vampires we're used to now are not the kind from the Castlevania series, and thus have little in common with "normal" vampires in the comic. Sure, our vampires are funnier, but they're still bloodsucking fiends from beyond the grave.

These guys are, sadly, the best the world can hope for. These are the adventures of the heroes of CVRPG. They mean well, they try hard, and occasionally they do the impossible...
