As mentioned in the comic comment above, this whole plotline was started because Angel was mucking about in the timeline (going to steal Comic 1000 for Comic 800). If he was so concerned with that, he should have stopped himself from taking this how time-loop route to begin with.

He was probably planning on reasoning himself into letting it go smoothly so something like this wouldn't happen, but since the Elder God was in his future-stream, along with being turned evil, everything has now gone screwy. If normal Angel was around in comic 1000 things would've probably gone much better.
