The question really amounts to whether it's a good thing or not to meddle. This isn't a question of if they should meddle because they're on an alternate time-line -- it's at least the present day for them, even in the wrong dimension, so the rules of paradox don't apply (well, presumably).
No, the bigger issue is just that, should they meddle? Is it their right to impose a new order, their own will on the greater populace?
Certainly the argument could be made that they're heroes, and they're the good guys -- but don't most people consider themselves the good guys?
