It's interesting to watch the comic evolve over time. In this case, Olrox and his shape-changing ability. Here, I used an effect not entirely dissimilar to when an enemy is killed -- I used this kind of effect a lot as it's good to just show any change in effect.
Eventually, though, shape-changing involved a puff of smoke and the new form appearing out of the haze.
Of course, from the perspective of a video game series, effects and graphics will change over time, so it makes perfect sense. There is also the fact that, simply, these early "games" constantly evolved as I figured things out. The later comics do feel more professional.

These guys are, sadly, the best the world can hope for. These are the adventures of the heroes of CVRPG. They mean well, they try hard, and occasionally they do the impossible...
They actually do something heroic.
