Apparently it took quite some time for Nathan to defrost. Much longer than it take in Circle of the Moon, I'll note.
Frozen Shades appear in CotM (as well as other games, although they differ in appearance in CotM from the other games). They're an official Castlevania monster. Snow Beasts and Frost spirits, however, do not show up in the official series (far as I know).
