Really, I cribbed this joke from Discworld. Terry Pratchet makes a point, in those books, of stating that when a hero goes into a stupid place and pisses off people bigger and stronger than him, it's not murder, it's suicide.
I'm not certain why there's a monkey in northern European woods. Plainly they evolved for comedic relief. Some sort of Three Stooges-esque Darwinian natural selection.
