In theory, as he's on a planet, Angel could just portal past the bears. That said, he doesn't know the layout of this temple. If he portals out, where would he go? He likely can't portal himself into a wall, but he could end up anywhere in the temple, and there are probably rooms worse than this one, so that doesn't seem like a great plan.
When evil spreads across the land, and darkness rises and the monsters roam. When the creatures of the night make beautiful music, and the things that go bump in the night go bump with greater enthusiasm. When the world is in peril and is in need of a hero...
