Remember that Princess has been to the future (off-panel with Angel back in Game One) so she knows a few references and understand a lot of the stuff Angel talks about. Alec, though, has not been to the future, so a digression like this would make no sense to him.
Sure, he'll understand "the eighties", but that would be a reference to the 1680s or the 1780s (depending on when this series takes place, and the vote is still out on that). A montage, though, especially and 80s montage, may bee to weird for him to be able to understand.
It does raise the question of why Angel hasn't taken anyone else to the future. Huh...
