Of course, we assume a war involves actual, physical combat. It could be a war of 1s and 0s, all done in their shared mesh network cyberspace whatever. Maybe the factory is a programming farm of a bunch of Gertie-bots sharing their mindspace and the fortress is an internal, firewalled, intranet. It could all be going on lightning quick and we'd never know.
Although it probably is a physical war.
When evil spreads across the land, and darkness rises and the monsters roam. When the creatures of the night make beautiful music, and the things that go bump in the night go bump with greater enthusiasm. When the world is in peril and is in need of a hero...
