Many of the commenters have wondered if she somehow became a lich. I may have even implied it myself. But, really, she's not a lich in the classic terms because she's not undead. It's a distinction that had to be made.
It also means she's nowhere near as evil as a lich. Were she, she'd be completely a cat, so obviously she hasn't gone that far off the deep end just yet.

probably depends on the source material. usually the answer is "Yes" though, on account of the whole undead mage who sacrificed multiple people for immortality thing.

Well, most Liches gain their power through evil means...If there's a Good Lich out there somewhere, I haven't seen it.

Maybe the litches in Ubi's world of Might & Magic could be considered "good"? They just drink the poison of the Namtarus.
