Hey, if Alec is going to fake being sick, he's going to be medically accurate about it. I cant find any information on when appendicitis was discovered", so I don't know if Alec would have known about it back then... but if not, we'll just chalk that up to Angel spreading his future knowledge around again.
It's really helpful having a character from the future. It allows me to pull crap like this and be all, "well this is the sort of thing where Angel would go, 'why haven't you people figured out how to treat this,' and then he'd warp to the future, get a medical text book, and come back to help save someone's life. Then he'd probably go get drunk."
