I started writing this strip so Alec could get confused by money and realize he wouldn't be able to buy anything -- they'd have to go do some raids before Alec would be able to buy the sword he wants.
But then it occurred to me that gold only goes up in value over time (even taking into account inflation). Alec would be able to buy anything he wants with what little gold he has because it would have increased drastically in value over the 800 years he was "away". I just had to own that.
When evil spreads across the land, and darkness rises and the monsters roam. When the creatures of the night make beautiful music, and the things that go bump in the night go bump with greater enthusiasm. When the world is in peril and is in need of a hero...
These guys are, sadly, the best the world can hope for. These are the adventures of the heroes of CVRPG. They mean well, they try hard, and occasionally they do the impossible...
They actually do something heroic.
