Angel has been gone a while, but that is by design. This is a time travel adventure and if I left Angel in the comic just hanging around, it would get taken care of in minutes. Sometime tells me Angel wouldn't forget how to time travel with all these people bitching at him.
By separating him (presumably leaving him hanging out in DSWC where he, honestly belongs), I defuse the one thing that could have quickly de-escalated this whole series of events.
