Just about ever version of golems I've read has said pretty much the same thing -- golems are effectively immortal. Leave them alone, and they'll go on until the universe ends (and possibly they'll survive through the next Big Bang as the universe restarts again).
More so than vampires, zombies, or any other beast, golems (being ceramic, or stone, gems, whatever) can survive pretty much anything and just keep going.

and people wonder why i support dracula instead of the local villagers... most of them are obstructive and paranoid assholes... i mean, they burned a healer for witchcraft charges, and that healer was dracula's wife... dracula was pretty peaceful in his lands when the notice of his wife being burned at the stake spreaded and well... total obliteration of the townsfolk was the logical next step.
When evil spreads across the land, and darkness rises and the monsters roam. When the creatures of the night make beautiful music, and the things that go bump in the night go bump with greater enthusiasm. When the world is in peril and is in need of a hero...
These guys are, sadly, the best the world can hope for. These are the adventures of the heroes of CVRPG. They mean well, they try hard, and occasionally they do the impossible...
They actually do something heroic.
