It really depended on the magic system they were using. If it were like in Chrono Cross, then all they'd have to do is attack some enemies and they'd have their magic meters built back up. Of course, were it more like Chrono Trigger or most other RPGs, then they characters would have a set number of magic points to play with and they'd need to sleep to get it back.
