This comic came about specifically from a previous one where I stated, explicitly, that vampires could not reproduce. I was quite clear about that, in no uncertain terms.

Of course, I forgot that Dracula had a kid, Alucard, and that fucked all of that right up. Stupid Castlevania series getting in the way of me making my own, cohesive world.

So, I had to elaborate the point out further. I did steal bits of this from other vampire literature, and then just sorta fleshed it out to suit my needs.

As far as Dracula reproducing, it could be seen as one of two ways:

If Dracula was young, which if he had Alucard in the time period he was supposed to, and was the real Vlad Dracula made into a vampire (as would be historically accurate for the person -- just not the vampire part, we think), then as a young vampire he'd be able to have a child without it being that big a deal.

That said, if you pay attention to Castlevania continuity, and Dracula is in fact an impersonator, a vampire that was centuries older who presumably killed the real Dracula and took over his life, than Alucard was a chance by-product or a human/vampire coupling.

Of course, I really dislike the idea that Dracula isn't Dracula and is, instead, some other ponce pretending to be Dracula, so I choose to ignore it.

I'm with you, Mike. Dracula is supposed to be the FIRST vampire. He's damn near a god. (Although I did like the Laurel K. Hamilton twist where a neanderthal is a vampire... So old and so powerful that he can ignore direct sunlight.) Dracula is still the first, oldest, and mostest.

When evil spreads across the land, and darkness rises and the monsters roam. When the creatures of the night make beautiful music, and the things that go bump in the night go bump with greater enthusiasm. When the world is in peril and is in need of a hero...

These guys are, sadly, the best the world can hope for. These are the adventures of the heroes of CVRPG. They mean well, they try hard, and occasionally they do the impossible...

They actually do something heroic.
