Here we touch upon the fact that Katrina and Alec use very diferent magics and very different levels of control. Katrina's magic 9as stated here again) cannot detect the difference between targets. Now, whether that's a problem with her book spells (versus Alec's natural holy magic), or with Katrina and her wild magic specifically... I don't think that's ever touched upon in the comic, actually.

These guys are, sadly, the best the world can hope for. These are the adventures of the heroes of CVRPG. They mean well, they try hard, and occasionally they do the impossible...
