The thing of it is that this plotline was necessary to introduce the characters before we really got into big plot points. Jumping right into the part with the big bad felt too rushed, so there had to be some "get aquainted" time with the characters.
However, the title of the comic is Castlevania RPG. Somewhere, somehow, there has to be some actual Castlevania. This was the quick compromise.
In case you're wondering, Dracula is a bad guy.
