I wasn't going to have Olrox be Link's teammate. I really wasn't. The plan was to have Dracula go out with him, partially because it doesn't feel like Dracula gets a lot of love in this comic (he's almost never the main star). Dracula also had a lot more frames of animation than Olrox, which would have made using him easier.

But after the interview Olrox gave, it just felt like he should be the one. Comedy works that way sometimes.
