The Mega Man series... ahhh, another classic of the NES era. The original Mega Man game is heralded as a creative masterpiece, and yet also one of the hardest games ever made. Of course, the game was produced by Capcom, makers of some of the hardest games ever (just ask anyone that's ever tried to play a Ghosts 'n' Goblins game).

The thing about the Mega Man games is that, aside from different bosses and level layouts, the Mega Man games are largely interchangeable. Have Mega Man fight eight bosses (six in the original version of the original game) of varying power sets. Once the eight bosses are dead, proceed to a intermediate fortress or secondary set of bosses. Once cleared, Wily's fortress is your last stop before game completion.

The sad part is that, as the games went on, the "bold, fresh, creative" games became less and less bold, fresh, or creative. They just became rote rehashes on the original titles.

When evil spreads across the land, and darkness rises and the monsters roam. When the creatures of the night make beautiful music, and the things that go bump in the night go bump with greater enthusiasm. When the world is in peril and is in need of a hero...

These guys are, sadly, the best the world can hope for. These are the adventures of the heroes of CVRPG. They mean well, they try hard, and occasionally they do the impossible...

They actually do something heroic.
