No, you're not seeing things. Yes, CVRPG has undergone an art-shift. There will be plenty of time to look at the artwork and go over the details of it, but for now I will reassure you that you aren't seeing things and yes this is for real.
Amusingly, this was originally supposed to be timed for April 1st, but the Honeymoon arc ran long (by like, a year), and then I had to do the Band before I did this series, so the timing just never lined up. Oh, but how funny it could have been as an elaborate April Fools gag that never stopped...

Well, sprites will continue onwards in DSWC, but CVRPG is getting all tarted up.
