#1: The Journey Begins

This Comic's Storylines:

The very second thing ever done for CVRPG, this was supposed to be the launch comic. Of course, I don't think it ever actually got published anywhere before ICVD finally got its mits on the whole series... so, yeah.

Since it's Mab's comic, it's hard for me to discuss the art side of things, but I will say this. You'll notice that the characters look a whole lot different here than later in the series. Mab's art changed like... every 8 days or so. She just goes through stylistic variants all the time. Of course, she also hadn't settled into a style for the comic by this point... and I'm rambling... moving on.

It's worth noting that the comics you'll read here are the best versions of them for the series. Some of the earliest strips weren pretty hard to read, so I eventually took the time to redo them once I figured out important things like "layout" and "design" and "not sucking". If you want to torture yourself and see these older comics in their original form, you can head over to the CVRPG Classics archive, but I prefer the current forms you'll find here.

I still find it interesting to see Darkmoon with a black cloak instead of his standard red one.

Black is more vampiric, but red stands out better on a sprite. At this point, I forget we even gave him a black cloack at all.

When evil spreads across the land, and darkness rises and the monsters roam. When the creatures of the night make beautiful music, and the things that go bump in the night go bump with greater enthusiasm. When the world is in peril and is in need of a hero...

These guys are, sadly, the best the world can hope for. These are the adventures of the heroes of CVRPG. They mean well, they try hard, and occasionally they do the impossible...

They actually do something heroic.
